About Michael Nannen

After graduating from Grand Canyon University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, I went on to attend ATP Flight School out of Centennial, CO where I received my flight instructor certificate. I was lucky enough to get my first flight instructing job at Journeys Aviation where I was able to help others achieve their goals with flying as well as expand my knowledge of aviation. I took on the role of Assistant Chief Flight Instructor about 8 months in giving me the ability to be closer to the company and more involved in the bigger picture. I was able to contribute more as an employee in this role by being a leader to others through not only my words but also my actions.During this time I also worked in the food service industry for a catering company where I was able to climb the ladder from general waitstaff to event captain. This was essential to helping me refine my skills as an instructor and pilot in the form of clear communication, teamwork, and goal-oriented problem-solving.I am now a First Officer with SkyWest Airlines flying the CRJ and absolutely loving it. My previous work and life experiences have tremendously helped shape this path I have chosen and I am extremely grateful! I hope to one day be able to shift back into the teaching environment in this new setting and help further mentor and lead future airline pilots in a training department and as a Captain.
