I was responsible for the delivery of people related services to the Agency and for setting the strategic direction for workforce management through our strategic people functions. I led the people functions through a period of severe turbulence and pressure for the Agency. During this time, we enabled the continued operation of the organisation to support vulnerable Australians during their times of need - COVID, Bushfires and Floods.In parallel and during this time, I led changes to the people functions operating model, transformed the learning architecture in the organisation, introduced a focus on HR technology, lifted the capability of the HR workforce and built and delivered many award winning products, programs and services across the areas of disability, diversity and inclusion, our First Nations people, multiculturalism, WHS, people analytics, wellbeing, mental health, rehabilitation case management, workplace relations, recruitment, learning, generalist HR and strategic HR including workforce planning.Importantly, we did this as a team! We laughed, we cried, we learnt, we supported one another, and we respected each other. What a team!!

I was responsible for leading the HR division that encompassed the operational aspects of HR for the Department of Human Services. The functions within the division included generalist HR advisory, rehabilitation case management, payroll, HR systems, travel, workplace relations, employee relations, workplace relations, conduct and standards and workplace health and safety, Approximately 440 staff were within this division and provided HR services to in excess of 34,000 staff.
