About Michael Nester
I'm a Software Engineer at Disney Streaming with a focus on CI/CD and Test Automation. I have a B.S. in Physics from the University of Maryland College Park. My experience includes writing automation tests, building test infrastructure, load testing, and more.I'm also an Open Source contributor:Locust.io - Locust is a performance testing tool written in Python. I contributed to it but allowing users to specify tests cases to run via the UI, which before was limited to the CLI. Additionally, I fixed a small bug that was introduced due to a small change in the Flask 2.2.0 release.RobotFramework-Zoomba - The Robot Framework library SeleniumLilbrary doesn't play well with a lot of React components. I built the foundation for React-Select support within robotframework-zoomba, which allows for automating React-Select components similar to the SeleniumLilbrary's Select keywords.

Software Engineer In Test
The main responsibility of my role is to write GUI and API automation tests for an enterprise web application using Python and Robot Framework. This requires working closely with the developers on my team to understand both the functionality and underlying code of our feature in order to ensure that my tests fully cover the feature (unit, integrations, end-to-end, etc.). This includes both API and GUI performance testing using Neoload. Additionally, part of my responsibilities are to mentor new engineers and train them on some of the other tools that we use, such as Git, Jenkins, Octopus, TeamCity, AppDynamics and AWS. Another side project I worked on was implementing OWASP ZAP penetration testing, which is now included in our automation pipeline.
Volunteer
I studied the IV and superconducting properties of 2D Van der Waals materials. I worked with FeTeSe in an attempt to find a way to obtain a mono-layer flake via microexfoliation without having the crystal oxidize.Additionally, I worked with WS2 and MoS2. I have used Electron Beam Lithography and Electron Beam Evaporation techniques to develop small devices which were used to measure the electrical properties of the flakes.
Program Instructor
Astrocamp was an incredible and unique experience which required being attentive at all times. As the name implies, Astrocamp is a camp in which kids learn about all sorts of scientific topics. During the day, we would teach the kids about E&M, gravity, planetary science and even build bottle rockets. At night, we'd observe the stars with 10" - 16" reflecting telescopes and study the constellations. When I wasn't teaching kids, I was often life-guarding and assisting with general maintenance. Maintenance included installing ladders to the dock on the camp's lake and even building LARP weapons.
