I’m currently the water assets team lead for implementing the asset planning and lifecycle decision making for the water pipe network and support facilities (accommodation/plant). The position has a core focus to balance service levels, risk and keeping customer prices low and stable.Assets covered within this role have focused on water mains, meters, connections, ancillaries, accommodation facilities and major plant. However, I have also had significant exposure to asset planning with water treatment plants, water storage tanks, water pumping stations, dosing stations and control installations. The role includes;• Ensuring that lifecycle decision making principles for each asset type follows evidence-based decision making and a line of sight to corporate strategies, legislative requirements and customer service expectations• Development and implementation of prioritisation models• Development and preparation of Asset Management Plans, which are in line with the International Infrastructure Management Manual and ISO 55000.• Project sponsorship to ensure that capital, maintenance and operating interventions meet the required outcome whilst meeting cost and timeframes• Managing complex stakeholders with conflicting priorities to ensure a collaborative working relationship.• Lead a team of senior asset planners, who manage water mains, metering, accommodation facilities, major and minor plant and cathodic protection.

A graduate engineer on rotation through United Water. First 2 years located within United Water's Asset Management Team. A focus of my work was on understanding water network failure trends and predictive modeling of water main future failures. Published and presented a conference paper on water main failures at the 2008 Water New Zealand conference in Christchurch. Other key work involved writing asset management plans and asset program strategies (IIMM).Through this role i was able to work on different global water networks including, China, France and New Zealand. 2008 to 2010Rotation within Network Operations, which was based at Happy Valley Water Treatment Plant. Focused on optimising wastewater network operations to prevent sewer overflows from pumping stations and engineering support for operational crews during emergency breakdowns. 2010 - 2011Third rotation with United Water's Engineering and Project Manager's Groups. Key highlight included the design remediation works for Bolivar's WWTP sludge lagoons and concrete condition assessments at metropolitan WWTPs.
