Honesdale Hunter is a small, new shop that I have been working with acting as the Bow Technician and Manager. Being the newest pro shop in the area has presented its fair share of difficulties, setting up Social Media accounts has been a big help with reaching new customers and getting the word out about the business. Acquiring the necessary land and permits has allowed the owners the opportunity of erecting a new, state of the art, indoor range facility. The completion of this new facility is expected to be completed by late spring 2015, at which point I will be adding leagues and lessons to the services that we already offer within the Pro Shop.

I was approached about the position because of my background and experience in archery. My competitive shooting experience and knowledge of competitive target archery was a benefit to the business. Being involved in multiple aspects of archery for thirteen years is also a plus when helping customers with any issues or concerns they may have. Working at the shop I give lessons, work on equipment set-ups and assist customers in the showroom. It's a great small shop with many years of experience between all the bow technicians. Keeping it small allows us to be very personable and get to know our clients.In the Summer of 2012 the owner approached me about becoming the full time Assistant Manager. I accepted the position and made the transition to Assistant Manager in August of 2012. With this position several more duties around the shop became my responsibilities such as opening and closing the shop, writing schedules, and occasionally making bank deposits.

Working in the catering industry required a slight change to my skill set as a cook. Many items stayed the same, prep work in the kitchen is always a given, and that did not require much change. The idea of delivery, and keeping the large quantities of food consistent was different to how I had previously learned to work. Working directly with the Owner/Operator for a couple weeks allowed me to see how his market and business operated and allowed me to meld into my position quickly and become a pivotal employee for the business for the duration of my employment there.
