In this role, I designed and developed dozens of products, served as a technical expert for commercial team, and identified ways to improve the product development process . The product catalog included automotive injection molded parts, mechanical and pneumatic hand tools, and electromechanical packaging tools. Beyond designing and developing parts, this role includes responsibilities supporting quality, sales, manufacturing and business development teams. I use a stage gate product development process which focuses on product management, CAD design, technical drawing, supplier management, verification, validation, and marketing. Among the many tools used in the process, the most frequent and notable ones are Solidworks, AIAG engineering tools (DFMEA, PFMEA, QFD, CpK), Smartsheets management software, MS Excel, Powerpoint and communication skills. In this role, I also created and managed a local product development internship program. I create the requisition, and manage the interview, hiring, and day-to-day responsibilities of an undergraduate engineer.

For three seasons, I served as a Coach for WPI's Ice Hockey Team. The team competes in Division 3 of the NECHA, a regional affiliate of the ACHA, competing against other colleges across New England. As an assistant coach, primary responsibilities include assisting students with administrative tasks such as scheduling and budgeting, devising and implementing team strategies and game plans, managing team dynamics and events, communicating with school administrators and team captains and demonstrating leadership and guidance for the team throughout the season in search of a playoff berth and NECHA title.

This role was a technical, customer-facing position which focused on understanding client needs and preparing design proposals to meet their applications primarily focused on data center build outs as well as developing custom products when necessary. Beyond the design and product development responsibilities of this position, I actively sought additional areas to contribute which led to the development of two Excel-based software tools for internal use to optimize outdated processes for generating quotes on standard equipment and for estimating shipping expenses to frequently serviced customer facilities.

As a freelance contributor to hockeynews.net (now-defunct), I created written content, data visualization for a blog focused on hockey across professional and junior levels. In addition, in collaboration with the site, I created, hosted, and produced a podcast, 2 Man Advantage, which gained 65k downloads in a two year window.

In this position, I designed and developed testing procedures and fixtures in order to effectively test in-development biomedical products against performance specifications to ensure the quality of the products under development met the necessary specifications. Executing this responsibility included the development of hardwares and softwares used to manage several testing processes, the creation of testing methodologies and operating procedures, and the management of the corresponding documentation produced through the execution of these processes. The documentation that is produced is subject to FDA audits and was very meticulously managed as a result. The testing involved was congruent with IEC standards. This role also includes a cross-functional component as the development of testing protocols involved consulting with specialized teams each focusing on a respective subassembly. The commentary from these groups was used in order to diagnose and remedy problems as they are identified within the testing process, and detailed reports of successes, flaws, and anomalies were created in order to effectively summarize the performance of the device(s) under test. The products which were involved in development here are still developing and the specifics related to them are protected under a Non-Disclosure Agreement.The designs for these projects were executed using Autodesk Inventor.

I led the design and manufacturing effort to create a proof-of-concept prototype for a novel energy generation system. For this project, a transformed a paper sketch concept into a fully developed CAD model and oversaw a contract manufacturing and testing of the device. As the mechanical lead, my role was to understand the idea, design and realize a proof of concept prototype, evaluate and adjust. The development of this design involved a combination of subsystems and novel technologies including a complex power transmission system, very tight clearance and tolerance requirements, and understanding the basics of electrical engineering. Beyond the design responsibilities, this role also incorporated project management responsibilities to include managing a small team, supplier timelines, and project cost. Ultimately, the first proof-of-concept prototype was produced at about 10% below the target cost.

At Starrett Tools, I organized, maintained, and expanded an electronic collection of CAD designs and drawings from an electronic database that was used for pre-purchase customer investigation. The responsibilities of this project included producing 3D CAD models of existing products, processing changes made on existing models, and managing externally available information. This work was responsible for transforming Starrett's sales process to being driven exclusively by a traditional paper catalog to offering an online catalog with 3D and 2D models.The designs for this work were executed using Siemens SolidEdge
