Michael is a landscape architect and urban designer, as well as a landscape ecologist, and ISA certified arborist with over 20 years experience working in these fields. Michael has defined his practice at the intersection of the pedestrian realm and the associated natural environment, and through this work has helped municipalities across the province, and country, develop thoughtful landscape design strategies centered on environmental protection and enhancement, ecological augmentation, and the interpretation of these processes through thoughtful artistic expression. Michael’s work aims at the successful integration of these elements, toward beautiful pedestrian spaces, resilient cities with strong green infrastructure, toward multifunctional designs that are inclusive of all users.Michael has been involved with many award winning projects across the GTA, Ontario, Canada, and beyond; having led their design, facilitated a collaborative environment to support best design principles and strategies, as well as having overseen their implementation, including the Pan Am Streets and Parks of Toronto’s West Don Lands neighbourhood, such as Underpass Park; The Distillery District and all of its laneways, mews, and integrated outdoor art exhibitions; The City of Toronto / Evergreen Brick Works Artscape and naturalized interpretive trail systems, to name a few, as well as many new developments in Waterloo Region, where Michael grew up.Michael works across Ontario, revitalizing the streets and plazas of downtown Ottawa (Queen Street, Rideau Street, Ogilvy Plaza, Preston-Carling Master Plan, Elgin Street, Byward Market) and Sault Ste. Marie (Canada Welcome Feature, St. Mary’s Paper Mill, Gore Street, Queen Street, Huron Street), as well as working on detailed design and master planning projects in municipalities such as Barrie, Collingwood, Kingston, Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge, and Goderich, to name a few.Michael’s current projects are the Arts, Culture, and Technology Building at the University of Toronto Mississauga Campus, Allan Gardens in downtown Toronto, numerous BIA's master plans across in Toronto, Google Headquarters in Kitchener, Barrie's new YMCA, and Lakeshore Boulevard with Waterfront Toronto, to name a few.
