Lead Engineer for Cox residential data gateway CPEs. My role is the CPE wrangler for syndicated broadband gateway devices and to provide Tier 4 support.Notable accomplishments:• Determined the root cause of rapid battery drain and poor connectivity for Cox HomeLife Zigbee products in homes with a PW6 gateway. By visiting impacted customer homes I determined that the root cause was a software defect in a Cox-provided security router causing a Wi-Fi IPv6 multicast flood. The security router was fixed by pushing a firmware update. • Identified the root cause of an issue causing PW6 gateways to enter a "zombie" state where they would stop forwarding data over OFDM. I determined the issue was due to a complex interaction between the modem chipset and the CMTS. Based on this information I was able to devise a test plan to test other modems, and a remediation script. The remediation script was deployed by Video Ops and Access Ops and reduced truck rolls by 200 per day until new firmware could be pushed to the modem.
