Interesting, because the men who I worked with had views and opinions on politics, family, business, life, in fact there was little they didn't "know"! Their enthusiasm in questioning everything has been with me for all my adult life and this unique education helped me carve a career that I have simply enjoyed to the max.When I was appointed Joint Managing Director in 1990 I learnt the importance of trusting your colleagues. My fellow MD and I worked together as a team for 15 years witnessing some very testing times. We supported each other sharing in our joint successes as well as a few disappointments. When he retired I became CEO and continued to seek and welcome advice and comments from fellow colleagues. Being at the helm of a company that steered itself through many challenges I am genuinely proud of where the company is today.Having reached an age where I can now share my experiences with others (to those who may possibly be interested) I have stepped down as CEO and in turn have been appointed as non-executive Chairman.
