Turned an unpaid internship into a full time summer job as a composite technician/ engineer intern. Worked with pre-preg composite systems while building prototype airplane components. Used CATIA to design molds and tooling. Prepared mold, cut plies, laid-up, cooked and trimmed the component into the finished part. Utilized Leica laser scanner to scan molds, tooling, and finished parts to check for dimensional compliance. Experienced the lifecycle of a composite part, from an idea to a finished component. Developed a strong understanding of the needs of both the designer and the technician and how important effective communication is between the two roles.
