I operate pension funding valuation software to run normal cost calculations, budget projections, initial valuations, and supplemental valuations. I also analyze the results of the valuation software to ensure the systems are handling actuarial requests properly and accurately. Additionally, I will check peer's calculations and annual actuarial valuations for reasonableness and accuracy. Often I meet with MERS staff to clarify the inner workings of calculations and spreadsheets to help coworkers and employers in their presentation of the results at board meetings. Finally, I serve as the gateway between MERS and our consulting actuaries at CBIZ in Livonia, producing special actuarial projects requested by MERS staff to be certified and published by credentialed actuaries.
