Provided technical assistance and information as well as direction and coordination to local communities in determining their needs and ability to develop programs that impacted traffic safety. Primary grant and contract manager, from initial selection to post-activity monitoring. This included analyzing data, reports, surveys and other community programs; interpreting complex interactions and conditions, defining program goals and objectives, and identifying priorities and solutions; and directing the development of multi-phased, complex, comprehensive community based programs that were data driven and counter measurable in design. Served as resource for information and direction in impacting local community efforts to generate programs affecting traffic safety for diverse segments of the community. This included analyzing and evaluating activities and recommending programs to local governmental agencies to effectively impact on attitude and behavioral changes toward traffic safety; developing third party contracts and providing professional expertise to contractors and reviewing requests for proposals; and collecting and disseminating information and educational materials from state and local sources to a wide audience. Served as representative for DOT at traffic safety meetings and served as a resource on transportation safety programs in local geographical areas as well as statewide. This included representing DOT as a member and resource person for federal, state and local programs on Country and City Traffic Safety Commissions; and organizing, planning, and conducting community traffic safety program workshops with emphasis on task force development needs assessment and problem statements. Also included media activities including television, radio and newspaper interviews, the drafting of media announcements, and the planning and coordination of media events.
