Manager responsible for the staff, equipment and day to day running of the Prepress Department and Digital Print Sign area.Implemented a Prepress Computer to Plate workflow and put procedures in place to make sure presses were receiving the best quality plates to give the Web and Sheetfed presses the best chance to achieve high quality products.Worked with suppliers to implement colour management, ICC Profiling, densitometry, plate and print curves and educate others in this process.I had to educate and support clients, sales representatives and operators in how to provide the best, optimal files for print, to cause the least amount of problems whilst maintaining the clients needs and expectations.We had a Kodak Prinergy workflow outputting to a Screen Platesetter, Epson 9600 Printer and also a Mimaki digital printer for our signs division which I also was responsible for.Supervision of staff, utilising staff hours as efficient as possible, keeping overtime and material usage to a minimum to maintain and stick within budget.I was responsible for maintaining stock levels, dealing and negotiating with suppliers, ordering stock, machine maintenance and service requirements.This job required a very hands on approach, assisting staff to make sure production targets were met and KPI’S kept in acceptable levels.

I started in the print trade as an apprentice Graphic Reproducer at Hannanprint (ESN) in 1984, where I did all the facets of the trade including planning, platemaking and camera operating. I was promoted to a Superviser position, looking after up to 150 prepress staff and eventually moved into the Digital area once it was introduced to the company.I ran the Mac area when it begun in around 1992, where some titles began to switch to Digital output to film.In around 1994, the company was one of the 1st to go to CTP in Australia, which I looked after and we switched almost all titles to CTP using the most up to date technologies from around the world, with some of our clients being ACP, Murdoch Magazines, Horwitz, Fairfax and News LTD and the Courier Newspapers.I became Digital Prepress Manager and was responsible for Production of the Magazines and Catalogues as well as looking after staff and maintaining tight deadlines, dealing with clients constantly and educating them to supply us with good files to help streamline the CTP process.
