Since 1995, I have been carrying out basic research in the field of machine translation (rule-based, example-based). Starting 2000, I investigated multilingual translation techniques within the framework of statistical machine translation. During this time, I was in charge of building and managing multilingual language resources covering more than 20 languages. These resources were utilized in various international research activities targeting the development of speech-to-speech translation applications and services including:1. Consortium for Speech Translation Advanced Research (C-STAR),　2000～2006, 7 organizations (ATR/Japan, CASIA/China, CLIPS/France, CMU/USA, ETRI/Korea, FBK/Italy, KIT/Germany).2. Asian Consortium for Speech Translation Advanced Research (A-STAR)　2006～2009, 9 organizations (ATR&NICT, BPPT/Indonesia, CASIA, CDAC/India, ETRI, I2R/Singapore, IOIT/Vietnam, NECTEC/Thailand).3. Universal Speech Translation Advanced Research Consortium（U-STAR） 2010～2013, 23 organizations from Bhutan, China, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Portugal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, UK, Vietnam.Since 2004, I have been involved in the organizing of the International Workshop on Spoken Language Translation (IWSLT), which is a yearly scientific workshop associated with an open evaluation campaign on spoken language translation. More than 60 research groups world-wide took part in the previous 8 shared task events.Concerning the research environment, work was mainly carried out on Linux and Windows platforms. I have good experience working in C++, Python, and Perl.Since 2013, I am involved in the deployment and customization of speech recognition and machine translation technologies for business solutions. Concerning language skills, my mother tongue is German and I have 20+ years experience with daily and business conversations in English and Japanese.
