Worked with 12 other stunning trustees, the Centre Manager, Gym staff and many stalwart volunteers to cement the future of this much loved and now well-used community centre charity on the Queen's Road Estate in Richmond. Recently, we converted the Charity to being incorporated as a company, limited by guarantee. In addition, we have turned the charity around - despite losing a substantial portion of our grant and have added significantly to the charity's reserves these last two years.In September 2014, we celebrated our 25th year and had a big and highly successful bash with loads of guests and supporters from across the Borough - it was well attended and great fun. We are also launched a major fund-raising appeal to provide for extensive refurbishment of all the facilities, to help make them suitable for the next 25 years. The kitchens, shower and loos were done this summer, thanks to a generous grant from RPLC.This vibrant Centre hosts a wide range of activities including CamKids - an after-school club, line & street dancing, yoga, classes for hearing impaired, Parkinson's Group, T'ai Chi, singing lessons, IT for beginners (helped by an IBM grant), art lessons, children's ballet, an history group, bridge lessons and Buddhist mediation, as well as having a small community gym, that also participates in Richmond's LiveWell scheme - the only independent gym to do so. As over 70% of gym members are over 60 years old it is very un-threatening and no Lycra is required!The Centre also host several fund-raising activities throughout the year, including two very successful jumble sales.Great supporters include: Richmond Parish Lands Charity (RPLC), Barclays Bank, Waitrose, HSBC, IBM, many local businesses atop Richmond Hill. local individuals and a recently formed Friends group, who recently ran an highly successful raffle.
