Puppetry in Practice is an acclaimed Brooklyn College-based multiarts education organization. We bring visual art, performing arts, new media, music and dance to 25 schools throughout NYC, promoting language development and literacy while celebrating diverse cultures and stories from around the world. We engage students, pre-K to 12, as well as families, classroom teachers, school leaders, college faculty and teachers-to-be. Our goal is to increase curiosity, celebrate cultural diversity and develop a sense of community through art-making.

Artistic Director of LeAp's highly regarding theater-based education programs: LeAp Onstage and The August Wilson Monologue Competition.For LeAp Onstage: Students in New York City middle and high schools engage in a school-year-long artist residency that culminates in the writing of 10-minute plays. After being assessed by a panel of professionals, the winning plays and runners-up are performed in schools for their peers, and the winners have their plays published in an anthology by Samuel French, Inc., evaluated by theater experts, and THEN performed on an Off Broadway stage.For the August Wilson Monologue Competition: High school students are immersed in the acclaimed work of August Wilson, memorize monologues from his 10 plays and compete among class members. Two winners and an alternate from each school move on to the citywide competition and then two winners from New York City compete in the national competition--on the stage of Broadway's August Wilson Theatre.LeAp's Theater programs are nationally recognized and expose students to the full spectrum of professional theater.

Oversee Development, Marketing and Culminating Events for 40-year-old arts education organization, serving 160 NYC schools per year.

Responsible for the strategy, planning and guidance to see that the organization’s mission is carried out on a day-to-day basis. Works side by side with the Artistic Director and provides the balance, timing and procedural process of making the artistic vision a reality.Responsibilities include:Assure that the organization has a long-range strategy in which it achieves its mission, with consistent and timely progress reports.Work closely with Board of Directors and all stakeholders to increase funding streams. Provide leadership in developing program, organizational and financial plans with the Board of Directors and staff, and carry out plans and policies authorized by the Board. Work with the financial managers and the Artistic Director to maintain official records and documents, and ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the field in marketing, advertising, cultivation, Board management and innovative outreach.Work with outside individuals and organizations to publicize the activities of the organization, its programs and goals.Work with the Artistic Director to build community outreach and all avenues of public good will. Director of External Relations for the Drama Desk Award-winning York Theatre Company, a highly regarded Off Broadway company. There on an interim basis, he was the primary fundraiser and provided oversight of development and input in the company’s marketing efforts. As a consultant, he also launched a Strategic Planning process, working closely with the Board of Directors and staff to identify and reinforce operational needs and set goals for the near future.

Instructor/director of the Musical Theatre Performance Class for the Lee Strasberg Institute Theatre and Film of NYU/Tisch School of the Arts. In a curriculum he designed, the class culminated in a performance of new works written by the NYU Musical Theatre Writing MFA students. This unique collaborative program grew rapidly and was produced as a festival of new works.

Producing Director and Other Stages Producer of Barrington Stage Company in Pittsfield, Mass., overseeing Stage II, which includes the Musical Theatre Lab (curated by William Finn), as well as its growing Youth Theatre division.

Oversaw all marketing, development, business and financial aspects of the organization.

As Artistic Director of Bristol Valley Theater, enhanced the company’s visibility and significantly increased the reach of the organization, which is a professional theater located in Naples, N.Y. Bristol Valley Theater produces and presents theater and live-performance events as well as educational programs from May through October. Bristol Valley Theater became the fastest-growing professional theater in the Finger Lakes, and box office sales increased 65 percent while he was Artistic Director. With attendance increasing 62 percent, thousands more visited the 200-seat theater during the spring, summer and fall seasons. Governor George Pataki visited Bristol Valley Theater, and shortly thereafter Lieutenant Governor Mary Donohue awarded the theater a grant for its commitment to the region.
