Identified flora in the field by sight, referring to dichotomous key when necessary and using dissecting scope in the lab to identify species less readily distinguishable. Collected, pressed, and mounted plant specimens for herbarium use. Also conducted laboratory processing of samples, including soil pH protocols, soil moisture measurements, and beetle identification. Frequently used compass, Trimble GeoXH 6000 and Garmin GPS systems, TruPulse 360R laser Rangefinder, and Nikon SLR with 180⁰ fisheye lens for data collection purposes. Show less

Was also responsible for preparing the lab, grading examinations, and managing supplies.

Examined the effects of toxins in the soil on plant growth at a major dump site and evaluated possible phytoremediation techniques. Conducted surveys to determine the diversity and composition of plant life on site as well as laboratory testing with native and phytoremediating species to determine the effects of the soil from the site on plant growth. Landmark Environmental provided assistance with equipment, data collection protocols, and site use authorization.
