Michael has been with AFI for 6 years managing our Air Canada Cargo operations and transportation/shipping security requirements for various AFI clients. As part of his responsibilities with Air Canada Cargo, Michael assists with the coordination of the Fallen Soldier Repatriation ceremonies, his work being recognized by the Commander and RSM of the Canadian Expeditionary Force Command. Michael’s work in the airport environment has given him unique knowledge in dealing with access control issues and with cargo screening requirements both domestic and international. Other aspects of transportation security that Michael manages are covert escorts/counter surveillance of high value shipments travelling by transport truck across the country and into the USA. Michael has also managed the protection of thoroughbred horses running in the Breeders Cup Series at Woodbine and Churchill Downs. These assignments offered a unique look into the thoroughbred racing industry and the security concerns related to ensuring a horse is safe from tampering.Previous to working for AFI Michael served for 7 years with the Canadian Armed Forces as a Signaller with 2 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group. Michael completed a tour in Bosnia-Herzegovina attached to a UK armoured regiment, The Queen’s Royal Hussars.Michael completed the Law Enforcement and Investigation program at Conestoga College and is currently working on his Emergency Management certificate from George Brown College.Michael is member of CSIS, the Canadian Society for Industrial Security, and a member of OVERT (Ontario Volunteer Emergency Response Team) having joined this year.
