I am captivated by the complex challenges that we face as a nation and I am passionate about continuing to work in the space of Indigenous and non-Indigenous relations where I can make a positive contribution to practical reconciliation by building and deepening relationships, providing pragmatic assistance, and working towards mutually beneficial outcomes. I have genuine appreciation for, and have sought out, knowledge on Indigenous and Western cultures, and believe that understanding each other and acknowledging our commonalities as humans is key to real progress.Having worked for fifteen years in the Indigenous health, education, employment and sport & recreation space, I understanding more closely on what it is that can improve relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians, in the spirit of reconciliation.I believe that the gaps in education, employment, health, wealth and other metrics exist for overwhelmingly complex reasons and as a nation we have the opportunity to improve how we define the problems we have as well as cultivating well thought-out solutions. I am interested in businesses, organisations, positions and strategies that are congruent with these aims.What I have seen to be effective, is the power of having authentic relationships where those involved are valued for their unique humanness at an individual level. Through these relationships we celebrate and acknowledge the things that we have in common as humans, which is fundamental to reconciliation- as is the willingness of each party to want better.
