In May 2014, Michael was promoted to Senior Consultant recognising his developing expertise in contractual advice and capability to perform a lead support role to expert witnesses on formal disputes. During this time, Michael developed a particular expertise in the analysis of prolongation and disruption claims and regularly presented at the ICE on matters relating to construction contracts and dispute resolution.Notable experience in this role includes:• Lead support to Quantum Expert (Arbitration) –c£2bn claim arising from the construction of a major international airport.• London Underground – procurement of c£750m signalling and associated civil engineering contract.• Junior mining company – Commercial and contracts advice relating to procurement of significant mining and tunnelling contracts. (value c£2bn)• Lead support to quantum expert (Litigation) – reported case of OHL v Government of Gibraltar providing precedence on unforeseen ground conditions.

Having undertaken a placement year with Turner & Townsend in 2008, Michael obtained a first class honours degree and secured a graduate position in London with Turner & Townsend’s Cost Management business. During this time, Michael performed a variety of cost management functions on several projects developing proficiency in skills such as estimating and cost planning, detailed cost analysis, cost reporting, post-contract valuations and the negotiation of final accounts. Experience in this role includes:• Secondment to the Olympic Development Authority to join its commercial assurance team• Cost Manager on a significant commercial development• Cost Manager on several higher education projects• Cost Manager on the Barclays Retail national fit out programme.
