I lead and manage a team in all facets of day to day facility operations, such as facility & laboratory equipment maintenance, waste streams, supply procurement, all soft services (mailroom, housekeeping, conference room management, shipping & receiving, etc.), security, IT, safety, strategic facility planning, and compliance. I also develop operational policies to assure the safety of workers and the quality of lab research.In addition, I serve as the go-to person for member companies with questions and concerns related to lab and facility operations, ensuring that they have a positive experience during their residence at Forward BIOLABS.

Develop workflows and operation processes to isolate and purify phytochemicals and proteins using Simulated Moving Bed Chromatography (SMBC) technology.Perform cell culture, bacterial culture and/or tissue culture experiments directed at gaining an understanding of how proteins, peptides and/or phytochemicals attribute to antimicrobial/antifungal properties and their affect on mucosal immune function.I am responsible for outlining, performing, and analyzing cell culture experiments, protein and phytochemical separation workflows, and in the preparation of standard operating protocols. I am also responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the lab which includes ordering and inventory management, supervision of undergraduate and graduate students as well as senior lab personnel, and assisting with the writing of grants and publications.

I was involved in the Aging and Calorie Restriction Program from 2006 - 2014. My main focus was to understand the impact of aging and CR on adipose tissue function and secretion of adipose-derived bioactive molecules including adipokines and lipokines. I worked with both mouse and monkey models analyzing systemic parameters from cross-sectional and longitudinal studies. I also explored specific aspects of cell signaling using cell culture models and developed in vitro assays to aid in the study of cell metabolism and systemic signaling.
