About Michael Pottruff

As a kid growing up in Toronto with a single mom, I learned from an early age how important it was to save and invest. My mom would give me an allowance but would always ask me to validate my purchases and encourage me to save. Was it annoying? 100% but it stuck. At first it was a simple bank account and later mutual funds. When I started my first job, she was right there showing me how to do my taxes - long paper form. Through perseverance, I was able to save and pay for university. When I graduated, I stayed about home for a couple more years after starting my first job and was able to buy my first house at age 27.
