I have 25 years experience working with people and artists and arts organisations of all kinds to create amazing results: surprising, engaging, intriguing, stunning and memorable. Much of my experience has been in engagement and arts education; getting people involved in thinking about, making and taking part. After working at Ikon Gallery, Birmingham and Arnolfini and Situations in Bristol, I now mainly work at The Reader, developing and supporting partnerships with community organisations, local government and health services to bring Shared Reading to as many people as possible.

Community Projects Co-OrdinatorNew Brewery Arts Jan 2021 - PresentCirencester, England, United KingdomI'm working with the wonderful team at New Brewery Arts to develop new community projects over the next few months. New Brewery Arts focus on craft and makers and are right in the heart of the town, with studios, workshops, a cafe and gallery. They even run a hostel next door. Even in the last year they've adapted and kept busy and I'm looking forward to developing these new projects that will take shape at the same time as we all start to emerge from lockdown. Project ProducerFreelance Sep 2017 - Nov 2019Bristol, United KingdomI loved this contract with the wonderful group Artists First to help complete a fascinating project about their 25 year history. Artists First are all artists with learning disabilities and the history of their studio also tells stories of the developments, struggles and changes for disabled people in UK society during that time. The project involved 6 new short films, a publication, workshops to share the findings and a new website.

Hard work, but a great team and lots of great artists and projects to work with and learn frrom. The biggest project I worked on was The Tale (2018), a hugely ambitious new multi-site project for the three towns of Torbay, south Devon. Fascinating and exciting work with lots of local partners as well as UK and international artists. Of particular note is the ways in which we integrated participatory projects right across the programme; uncovering stories, both local and international, real and imagined. And, this being a Situations project, we were acutely aware of making the visitor experience as supported, stimulating and as engaging as possible. At Situations I also worked on the incredible Sanctum in Bristol, Theaster Gates's first UK project and a beautiful and powerful permanent sculpture by Hew Locke at Runnymede, to mark the 800th anniversary of the sealing of Magna Carta. Before that I produced a stunning new work by Anna Barriball for Oasis Academy John Williams, Bristol and earlier that year worked with filmmaker Tom Stubbs to help 20 people make micro-films about 3 recently made public artworks in Bristol. Nowhereisland was another massive project for Situations, running in 2011/12 as part of the Cultural Olympiad. I ran the extensive engagement progamme across the website and the 9 ports it visited in the south west.I also worked with Hew Locke on a previous Situations projecturator for a new public artwork by Hew Locke for a cemetery gardens in Bristol.www.situations.org.uk Show less -
