I am the Director of Finance and Administration & Associate Chair of Finance for the Department of Pediatrics at Stanford University. In this role I am responsible for overseeing all administrative functions of the Department through forming and maintaining productive partnerships with both the Stanford School of Medicine and the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford.The Department’s scope includes 19 clinical and research divisions, with 440 faculty, 470 staff, 125 clinical fellows, 130 research postdocs, and a consolidated annual budget of $340M. The administrative functions of the Department include finance, clinical operations, HR, academic affairs, research administration, education, and facilities. This position enables me to find solutions thinking both strategically and tactically, and to cultivate constructive relationships with all levels of the larger Stanford health organization.My key achievements in this position include working with the Department Chair to negotiate a favorable clinical funds flow reimbursement rate with our partnering Hospital, optimizing our physician staffing plan, enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of annual Department budgeting process through centralization, leading a team that designs profit and loss statements for 17 clinical specialties, establishing processes to record, monitor, and report on clinical productivity, and developing a team of four functional Directors, seven Division Managers, and the Chair’s executive assistant.
