In my current role I look after the health of distribution assets (11kV and below) including 110,000km of underground cable, 70,000 secondary sites, 140,000 link boxes and one million poles. This entails devising long term strategies for replacement/ overlays into ED2/3 as well as short term urgent replacements within the current price control period this done by using various analytical and modelling techniques while maintaining ISO55001. My role also encompasses looking at future innovative solutions for managing an aging network and an increasingly more complex network due to distributed generation and electric vehicles. As part of my role I currently manage a NIA funded project.

Job PurposeTo project manage a number of major connections in the SPN area and to ensure successful pre and post contract management of all projects in order to exceed the customer expectations. To complete project management through full life cycle of the project from initial enquiry through to post investment appraisal in line with the UK Power Networks Project Governance and Control process. Principal Accountabilities1. Manage projects throughout their lifecycle from Enquiry, through Quotation and on to completion in line with PG and C process.2. Liaison with Capital Programme; both Design and Programme Delivery for the pricing and delivery of new connections solutions.3. Liaison with asset management to obtain point of connection information and develop strategies for delivering customer requirements4. Carry out relevant distribution planning activities such as (I)Carry out the design work and cost LV /11kV/33kV/132kV projects for asset replacement, non rechargeable diversions and reinforcement (II)Analyse network issues and performance problems, and propose technically sound and cost-effective solutions5. Carry out network analysis and load flow studies 6.Determine the appropriate point of connection and associated reinforcement requirements for new load and generation enquiries7. Manage the delivery (not doing the delivery) of new connections major projects.8. Manage the financial control of projects, ensuring the delivery of planned Gross Margins.9. Ensure design compliance with CDM.10. Produce quotations in line with our Licence conditions ensuring regulatory compliance of all projects (LC12, LC15, LC15a).11. Work with customers and government offices to progress long term strategies for the connection of new load for the expansion of development areas.

My responsibilities included building high end units for big name clients as well as going into stores and carrying out maintenance, repairs and modifications on the units where required.
