I am working to establish a 501c3 to preserve and utilize a historically significant building on San Antonio's East side as a community and cultural resource center. In my capacity as Director, I work to:•Assemble a board of directors from diverse backgrounds such as social justice, healthcare, and fundraising.•Build a network of artisans, architects, historians, immigration specialists, and healthcare providers to provide services to one of the most impoverished neighborhoods in San Antonio.•Write grant proposals.•Research the historical and cultural background of the proposed service area.

•Develop and refine rich educational content spanning a diverse range of historical periods and themes from pre-Columbian America and the Spanish colonial era to modern history and contemporary events. •Provide interpretation and analysis of historical sites such as the Alamo and Mission San Jose to national and international visitors in a succinct, captivating, and fun manner. Oral presentations provided to over 100 visitors per week in English and Spanish.

Masters in Public Anthropology•Collaborated with residents in 3 historically Black communities to understand and interpret their fight to preserve, protect, and memorialize slave burial grounds in Montgomery County, Maryland. Activities included conducting sensitive oral history interviews, collecting artifacts, genealogical research and analysis, archival and title research, producing and hosting a local radio show. •Brought together various stakeholders from diverse backgrounds such as faith-based community members, artists, activists, council members, and historians to design a museum exhibition and accompanying archive to highlight Black history in and around Washington, D.C. •Specialization in identity formation among Latino/Indigenous communities in South Texas borderlands; Latin American history and nation-state formation; U.S. International relations in the Americas and the Caribbean.Notable coursework: Recognizing Indigenous America, Origins and Transformations in Latin American History, Theory from the Global South, Indigenous People of Latin America.

•Regularly serviced over 300 Capitol Bikeshare stations across the D.C., Maryland, Virginia region. •Union representative for a team of over 30 mechanics and drivers.

•Served as a Spanish speaking liaison to Central American communities in Washington, D.C. and increased census submissions by providing onsite assistance to over 400 residents.•Allayed concerns regarding sensitive issues such as domestic violence and immigration while elucidating the benefits of census submissions. •Collaborated with other offices such as the Mayor's Office of Latino Affairs and DC Public libraries to increase outreach.

Communications Lead – Technical Assistance Team:•Maintained communications to a network of 2,062 stakeholders regarding new awards, departmental priorities, and revised regulations.•Presented grant opportunities, rules, and priorities to thousands of participants via national webinars. •Maintained files and administrative actions for 36 grant recipients in the G5 payment system used to request and receive funds, report expenditures, and adjust drawdowns.•Networked with intradepartmental offices to determine priorities, direct projects and drive partnerships for grant recipients.Comprehensive Center Network• Monitoring and evaluation of 9 grantees receiving over $25 million by structuring and conducting site visits; review of program outcomes, objectives, personnel and budget; and • Provide technical assistance regarding the use of funds and activity parameters as outlined by the Cooperative Agreement and Code of Federal Regulations.• Project Lead for establishing the first CC website. Activities included producing timelines and expectations, communicating with stakeholders, tracking costs, and providing progress reports. Policy Lead and Subject Matter Expert – Equity Assistance Centers•Managed a portfolio of 5 EACs receiving over $4 million by monitoring and evaluating program outcomes via monthly and ad hoc monitoring calls and budget analysis; and providing TA regarding program regulations and reporting requirements. •Networked and collaborated with other U.S. agencies such as FEMA, HHS, and HUD to determine where services were needed. •Redesigned the EAC program as it appears in the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance by analyzing data from over 12,000 school districts nationwide, allowing us to reduce costs by consolidating service regions while focusing on the incoming secretary’s new priorities. •Managed a panel of 12 education professionals to review and select new grant applications for awards.

• Responsible for on-site implementation of three 8-day National Youth Leadership Forums focusing on business innovation with over 700 students participating.• Supervised operations team, office manager and scholar relations team totaling 13 members.

• Designed and led a participatory quantitative and qualitative community needs assessment of the Alamata primary and secondary school system; developed an action plan in coordination with local Ministry of Education to promote sustainability and address identified needs.• Developed and facilitated an annual 2-weeklong teacher training program highlighting the use of communicative language teaching skills and language games, empowering teachers to create highly detailed, more ambitious and originally designed lesson plans, and emphasizing the use locally available materials and resources to make teaching aids and practice new methodologies.• Implemented extracurricular English clubs reaching over 100 students in three different primary schools as well as an adult education class reaching 37 teachers in primary and secondary schools.Grassroot Soccer Facilitator• Organized and facilitated 40 sessions over using soccer to cover topics such as life skills, safe sex practices, and HIV transmission and biology, with an emphasis on empowering young women. Reached over 150 students over 5 cohorts.• Facilitated training sessions for Ethiopian locals at a regional level to become coaches themselves to continue the GRS program. Counterpart Liaison; Camp GLOW (Girls Leading Our World• Compiled a culturally appropriate handbook for Ethiopian and American camp counselors providing them with a guideline for how to address child behaviors and psychology and provide safe learning spaces camp attendees. • Conducted an annual three-day training targeted at over 25 counselors which prepared them to lead sessions and provided methods for designing lesson plans and activities. The resulting product of this training was a 7-day schedule of events for the camp which included ceremonies, games and icebreakers, as well as sessions on confidence building, self-esteem and assertiveness, art, coping with adolescence, building trust with others, sex education, and gender equality.

• Provided education services to underserved families on the Southside of Chicago including tutoring, mentorship, and college and career prep.• Taught Reading and Math skills to children between the ages of 5 and 17.• Worked one-on-one with high school students to teach Physics and Calculus lessons.
