Let's talk about building with Lego bricks. It starts with those one or two pieces that catch your eye, begging you to make something incredible. Then begins the digging, seemingly endless digging. Searching, clawing for that one piece that makes your vision come to life, you think through alternatives and possible solutions until you find what you're looking for. It takes time, but through hours of hard work (and a few design changes along the way), your masterpiece -be it a robot or plane or a secret base- is complete. I might be one of a small number who have had this exact experience, but it does demonstrate how I view my work and skills. I get inspiration from all aspects of the world and people around me. I collect tidbits of knowledge and perspective because deep connections are both genuinely important to me now and instrumental in forming the foundation for later ideas. Then, I dig and claw until everything has been put together in a new satisfying way, acknowledging that my initial plans aren't always the best approach. Like a tower of plastic bricks, sometimes life can come crashing down in a moment, but every new collapse is an opportunity to build it back up in bigger and better ways.
