With three decades of experience as a civil litigator, Michael, a graduate of the University of Western Ontario and the University of Illinois at Chicago Law School, has significant experience handling complex corporate, compliance, regulatory and business issues. Michael was a litigation partner with one of Illinois’ largest in-house counsel law firms, managing the operations of multiple offices overseeing a case inventory of thousands, supervising dozens of attorneys and support team members. Entering private practice, Michael was a principal of a fifteen-attorney boutique law firm that catered to the corporate, insurance coverage, litigation, appellate and governance needs of insurance and healthcare companies in the Midwest. He has held many corporate positions including serving as a two-time Vice-President of Claims/Corporate Litigation for multiple property and casualty insurers and has served and currently serves as President, Executive Vice President, General Counsel Board and Advisory Member for many healthcare companies. He currently works closely with Tier 1 practitioners (Physicians and Nurse Practitioners) to establish and grow their businesses in the very competitive healthcare industry.Michael recently joined hOhm, Inc. as its Secretary and General Counsel, working with its executive management to ensure corporate compliance and legal matters.A member of the Illinois (State and Federal Trial Bar) and Indiana bar, Michael has tried dozens of bench and jury trials. Michael consults and handles Federal Medicare health law issues, including matters involving civil and criminal violations of the anti-kickback, EKRA and false claims acts, and responding to debilitating audits/extrapolations/payment suspensions imposed by Uniform Program Integrity Contractors of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. His current practice also includes assisting clients in complex Mergers and Acquisitions. Michael is a certified arbitrator and has several written appellate opinion credits.Michael is married and is the father of four children. He is an active and certified (Kukkiwon) fifth-degree (Senior Master Instructor) practitioner of Jidokwan Taekwondo. He is a certified coach for the USA National Taekwondo and American Athletic Union programs. Michael is currently President Emeritus and is a Board Member of the Illinois Taekwondo State Organization. Michael devotes his time as a eucharistic minister and mass coordinator at his local Parish and is a Catholic Diaconate Vocational Candidate (Class of 2025) with the Archdiocese of Joliet, Illinois.
