I have long had an interest in writing and over the last few years have published opinion articles covering a variety of topics in The Nevada Independent, the Las Vegas Review Journal and Carson Now (see article links below). I also developed a promotional brochure and wrote the 2018 mid-year report for ASHA-INC., a nonprofit organization serving vulnerable children in Bangladesh, and I continue to serve as a volunteer technical writer for The American Red Cross Northern Nevada Chapter, developing newsletter articles, press releases and blog posts as needed.The majority of my work history is in career and technical education, with 33 years experience as a teacher and CTE program administrator, culminating in seven years' experience as the Nevada State Director for Career, Technical and Adult Education. Prior to completing my college education, I served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Honduras. Here is a sample opinion articles I wrote for The Nevada Independent. One is about the disconnect between four-year degrees and educating our students to provide a skilled labor force for business and industry; the other is about disturbing acceleration of construction costs for public works projects in Nevada.
