• By working closely with engineering departments within ABB to ensure they have a full and comprehensive understanding of DFM and DFT guidelines. • Making sure that engineering departments understand the limitations and capabilities of production equipment at various suppliers’ facilities around the world.• Working closely with ABB’s suppliers and recommending process improvements were necessary. • Inspection of all bare PCB’s from various manufacturers used by our PCBA suppliers to ensure quality is suitable for the product being manufactured. This is done by a first article inspection process were only approved PCB suppliers can be used. • Analysis of PCB defects from production/field and providing support as required.• Implementing effective corrective and preventative actions, in close association with suppliers, production, purchasing and engineering.• Reporting of defects and production issues back to suppliers using Quality action forms and VNCR process.• Analysis and reporting of suppliers yield reports. Investigation into abnormalities in production and corrective actions. • To work closely with various engineering departments in ABB and advising on new production equipment at suppliers and its capabilities.• New component approvals.• Supplier audits and assessments.• Evaluation of non-conforming materials. • To ensure quality procedures are followed and maintained by not only are suppliers but internally at ABB.• Writing of working instructions and procedures internally at ABB motion control.• Introduction of digital microscopy equipment into production to improve incoming goods inspection and defect analysis.• Training of all necessary staff at ABB motion control in Advanced SMT rework and inspection.• Working closely with ABB operational excellence team with continuous improvement and six sigma activity’s.

Day to day running of workshop. Also worked closely with design engineers at Glamorgan university to re-design existing products produced at Lodgeson. Responsible for training of staff in advanced SMT rework techniques and NPI.
