I am responsible for providing legal counsel to Chesapeake's Northern Division which consists of Oklahoma, Kansas and the Texas Panhandle. My primary client is Chesapeake’s Land Department; however I also provide legal services to Chesapeake’s Drilling and Operations departments in the Northern Division. My practice includes, but is not limited to, responding to landowner and attorney requests, participating and negotiating settlements with landowners and/or government agencies, determine paying quantities on oil and/or gas wells, assisting with oil and gas contracts, title issues, surface damage agreements and negotiations, and providing legal research and guidance on the various and continuing developments in the oil and gas industry.

I am directly responsible for providing legal counsel to Chesapeake’s Environmental, Health and Safety Department; however, because of my broad job responsibilities I also provide legal counsel to Chesapeake’s Land and Operations Departments. I practice in all aspects of environmental and regulatory law. My areas of expertise include providing legal counsel to Chesapeake’s baseline water sampling program, advising my client on federal and state regulatory requirements, assisting Chesapeake in evaluating and negotiating real estate transactions for environmental matters, reviewing SEC disclosures for environmental liability, drafting and negotiating language for water testing requirements in surface use agreements, providing strategic counsel in response to government investigations, negotiating with federal and state regulatory agencies and also providing legal counsel for Chesapeake’s Endangered Species Act matters. Along with my areas of expertise I research and provide legal guidance for matters pertaining to Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know-Act (EPCRA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Habitat Conservation Plans, wetlands and water rights. I am also lead counsel on several litigation matters pertaining to regulatory permit appeals before state administrative law judges.
