I gained project engineering experience by organizing three projects for my program's Loaded Motor team. The projects involved propellant qualification, the release of design analysis reports, and risk analysis and testing regarding foreign object debris. I worked to schedule and budget these projects and coordinated and led teams of 5-10 full-time employees in meeting program goals and discussing our work with the customer. I simultaneously worked to create and maintain an automated engineering priority list which was used daily by upper management to determine which of many technical documents should be released first. This priority list helped avoid schedule slips and allowed our program to have one of the highest document release rates during a backlog of work for the sector-wide change management team.

In this position I aided in the design, manufacturing, and testing of packages to be put on SNC's Dream Chaser Cargo System, typically with respect to environmental control and life support. I mainly assisted a team which was responsible for the vehicle's atmosphere monitoring system and fire detection system. I was able to perform diversified tasks such as CAD modeling and drawing, acquiring quotes, designing and running tests, and writing work instructions.

I wrote and executed flight computer test scripts using Modified Condition/Decision Coverage methods, created an automated tool to find and define acronyms in technical documentation, and modeled signal pathways to identify failure modes and isolate the root cause of test script failures.

I worked as part of a team to deliver the best possible catering experience to multiple important events in the surrounding community. Job responsibilities varied by event, but always involved iterations of set-up, customer service, and take-down. For each event I had to stay flexible, use quick thinking, and rapidly communicate with customers and other catering staff in order to overcome any unforeseen circumstances and optimize the dining experience for all involved in the event.

The main responsibility of this position was to analyze and optimize the design of an experimental vertical-axis wind turbine. To find parameters which maximized turbine efficiency, a low-budget wind tunnel was created from materials such as cardboard, zip ties, and a box fan in order to simulate high wind speeds in a controlled and measurable manner. This was used in conjunction with a laser sensor which determined maximum turbine speed so that energy output could be calculated. Various turbine blade designs were then molded and tested until a desirable energy output was reached. This position provided a great deal of hands-on experience in design, construction, testing, and communication.
