By virtue of my experience as the Deputy Chief of my local rescue squad I have been able to expand my leadership skills. It has also helped me learn how an organization runs on a daily basis from an operational side. For just under a year I served as the Vice President of the organization where I assisted the president with the administrative side of running the organization. In addition to that I have held positions on many committees between the rescue squad and fire department, planning fundraisers, classes, and even public relations/community outreach. Through my work experience I have held many jobs surrounding public safety and emergency management. Working with the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission has taught me how video surveillance and intelligence helps police investigations for everything from motor vehicle accidents to homeland security issues. My time spent in the private security field has introduced me to private sector work in contrast to my state government work. While working in the private sector I met a large variety of people and received multiple opportunities to complete computer and technical training for the security field. This has helped me achieve the level of proficiency in video surveillance and intelligence to allow me to complete my tasks required for my previous positionsMaking the choice to leave my previous career to follow my passion for aviation was anything but easy. I have been lucky enough to get into to American Airlines Cadet Academy and already it has provided a great introduction to the industry. Between the flight training I’ve received and the connections I’ve made, there is no better place to have been welcomed into the family of aviators.
