• Currently serving as a Senior Development Manager for the Microservices Cloud Platform Development team providing direction to a broad team of engineers and architects who develop the Microservices Cloud Platform for internal partner teams to deliver their applications on. • Responsible for building a platform based on Kubernetes and Docker and leveraging existing OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) services to ensure that our internal partners have a platform which scales at a global level to run their applications on. I am accountable for the roadmap development for teams building the Microservices Platform, day to day activities operating and supporting the platform, and handling the 24x7 oncall rotations. • Lead multiple scrum teams using Agile methodology using exclusively Atlassian products Confluence and JIRA which ensures steady improvement across a large geographically diverse group. Teams are located in US, UK, Czech Republic, India, and New Zealand. • Duties include performance reviews, hiring of new talent including fulltime and cooperative education students, dealing with interpersonal relationships within the group, providing hardware/software requirements for engineers to perform their duties, and advocating and coaching of engineers within the team to help guide them through their careers for advancement.• Acting System Owner for the development agile scrum teams developing within the Microservices Cloud Platform Team. This entails overseeing a product owner who creates epics and user stories based on feature requests that come from our partners within Oracle who run on our platform or from within our team for hardening or non-feature level work. Attend all team meetings including grooming, retrospectives, and standups to keep team on task and driving to expected results. Ultimately oversee the entire roadmap of the Microservices Platform.

Currently serving as a functional manager for one of the Cloud Platform Development teams as well as a Product Owner for a scrum team within the Microservices Cloud Platform organization. Oracle in the past year is shifting towards developing more applications delivered in a SaaS environment. My team is responsible for helping develop the Microservices Cloud Platform for those applications to deliver on. This includes technology such as Kubernetes, Docker, and ElasticSearch. This has been coupled with moving from the traditional Waterfall method to using an Agile methodology and scrum teams. Within this role we use exclusively Atlassian products Confluence and JIRA. Manager of the OS / Hypervisor group. Direct reports consists of engineers in Morrisville,NC and Bellevue, Washington along with Co-Op students from NC State University. Also responsible for providing work to a team in Banglore, India. This group is primarily responsible for the delivery of features, security fixes, and bugs for the OS / Hypervisor product as well as the QA verification of the deliverables in a DevOps environment. As manager of the group am responsible for:- Providing scope of work and deadlines for all engineers. This entails off-hours planning to ensure the Banglore team has their assignments in order to prevent lost time due to their time difference.- Providing communication on deliverable releases, future features, security updates, bug fixes, and the QA verification to upper level management and internal application customers built on OS. - Research and development for future features in backlog so that there is a consistent movement within the team to provide features. This entails working with system architects and senior engineers to design features, provide requirements documentation, and determine Level of Efforts. - Overseeing new initiatives within the group such as the move from Waterfall methodology to more Agile concepts. We also are spearheading a move from our proprietary test tools to more continuous integration techniques using Electric Commander. - Performing all aspects of manager duties including setting work assignments, making sure deliverables are delivered on time with expected quality, performance reviews, hiring of new talent including Co-Op students, dealing with interpersonal relationships within the group, providing hardware/software requirements for engineers to perform their duties, helping engineers work between multiple time zones(California, NC, India).

The platform group is responsible for providing a stable platform based on the CentOS for install, upgrade, and backout that our application groups can build on. Using mainly Perl and Bash scripting while working in this capacity, work includes:- Writing tools for application groups to easily configure features provided by the CentOS linux operating system such as networking support (including IPv6 provisioning), network bonding support, network bridging support, IP Security (IPsec) support, and automatic discovery mechanisms. - Supporting keeping the proprietary version of the CentOS operating system up to date with the latest CentOS version available. - Adding features to support the virtualization effort using KVM hosts and guests. - As a senior engineer in the group oversee the work of several junior engineers. Provide guidance to each of them on how to create a schedule, write documentation, and deliver quality code on the schedule provided. - Provide on-call 24x7 technical support for customer service organization.

The open systems application group develops applications on the linux platform based on CentOS for our Local Number Portability products and our DNS deliverable. Using Perl, Embedded C, and C++ to provide features including:* Creating RPMs to package and deliver software when moving from Solaris based system to a linux based system. This allowed for a seamless upgrade and backout of the software delivered for quality standards.* Implementing MySQL and replication to distribute databases among multiple servers* Developing tools to provision and monitor multiple areas of the servers including replication, provisioning, and alarming;* Deploying Linux Virtual Server to create a redundant solution that load shares traffic among multiple servers for database lookups* Designing the network for a system of servers which instituted network bonding and Linux High Availability along with configuring Cisco and Telco branded ethernet switches as part of the overall solution* Increasing performance of data download to many servers of large (2-4 gigabyte) databases over an IP network using open source utilities such as SABUL and UDT. * Assuming feature engineer responsibilities for multiple features which required upfront scheduling of tasks, distribution of work items to other engineers, and making sure all features were finished on schedule.

Extend existing features and functionality related to the SS7 protocol for Tekelec’s signaling transfer point product. Programming mainly in Embedded C and C++ developing features including:* Extending the signaling transfer point from a 256 link system to a 1024 link system. * Verifying each release of software followed Telcordia specifications * Developed a seamless integration between the signaling transfer point and a monitoring / billing system. This integration allowed all messages to be copied directly to the monitoring/billing system to help customers determine failures in their network and correctly calculate billing usage creating more revenue. Main focus was on implementing a VxWorks DHCP client on our proprietary system containing two Ethernet ports, as well as providing a means to send TCP data out of our system to the monitoring/billing system from cards without Ethernet connectivity. Project required skills such as using logic analyzers, working with cross-functional team, and working with 3rd party software vendors. Work resulted in a patent being awarded to the company for a proprietary routing protocol that was developed for the project.

Worked on database and user interface features for the signaling transfer point product. These features included projects extending the proprietary UI and database associated with the Local Number Portability feature. All programming was done in Embedded C. This included:* Expanding the database from 2 million to 12 million subscriber records* Expanding sizes of tables that required expanding data structures and associated code and handling these changes during in-service upgrades * Providing a means to automatically download the subscriber database from the Local Service Management Service down to the signaling transfer point rather than transporting it via optical media
