• I was the process engineer in charge of ceramic spray capacitor build up and ceramic capacitor sintering/firing area. Ceramic material use was Barium Titanate in product line. I worked closely with management and production/manufacturing on improving yields to meet monthly shipping goals.o Daily duties monitor spray capacitor build production line.  Ceramic Process knowledge helped Spray Operators Production meet shipping demands. Used SPC Process control for ceramic laydown and metallized electrode material. SPC allowed controlling shrinkage variations and reducing material costs. SPC process was also used involving sintering/firing of API electronic product lines. Knowledgeable in various ceramic forming needed for manufacturing of raw materials (powder qualification, powder characterization, batch formulation, pressing, extrusion, tape casting, etc…)o Daily duties for ceramic capacitor firing/ Kiln room Establish firing profile for various dielectric materials. General Maintenance and Repair of API spray room and kiln equipment.o Developing cost reduction plan of embedded electrode conversion from Platinum to 70%Pd/30%Ag electrode and converting current solvent binder system to environmental friendly to Acrylic Water base system. $500K to 2 Million is possible annual saving. o I did design and price quotation of new spray tube capacitors per customer requests.o Update documentation of manufacturing procedures.o Experience in SEM/EDAX and Optical microscopy for analysis of product and powder material need in failure and product improvement. o Used my acquired knowledge to help running production/manufacturing equipment when need to meet daily demands

 Lead Engineer in charge of all API Ceramic Production Firing (Sintering) by monitor current firing and establish new profiles for uniform and continuous production yields. Head Engineer/Technician in charge of operation and maintenance engineer lab used material characterization, qualification and final product failure analysis of all API products and outside customers. Equipment included Particle Surface Area Analyzer, Particle Size Measurement, TGA/DTA, Viscometer, Optical Microscopy, and SEM/EDAX. Lead Engineer responsible for ceramic slurry formulation development and problem solving for current product lines and new production lines.  Experienced working with solvent and aqueous based binders in ceramic formulations. Established Statistical Product Control (SPC) program to monitor and control spray room and kiln room for material usage and temperature control.(Ruffin, page 2) Self-Motivated to understand all operational equipment used between spray ceramic buildup, kiln room and other production areas of API.  Aided in maintaining production equipment at full operational status by repairing and/or purchasing parts or equipment. Spearheaded API Technology, Pd/Ag-water based spray project tube conversion plan. Two step plan of replacing high cost platinum embedded electrode with 70/30 Pd/Ag material. Second part using an aqueous acrylic binder over MIBK/PVC binder systems.  Responsible for annual savings for API of $500K-2 million by allowing future removal of Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) from plant facility. Produced continual process improvement of API Tech single (≥70% yield) and multilayer (≥50% yield) embedded Barium Titanate spray tube capacitor line.

• Worked on government-funded project on polycrystalline Erbium doped Yttrium Oxide ceramics for eye safe laser application. o Developed an understanding of ceramic processing techniques such as batching, aqueous processing, milling, iso-pressing, colloidal processing (e.g., slip, tape, centrifugal and pressure casting), binder removal and sintering.o Used basic analysis (e.g., thermal gravimetric analysis, optical and scanning microscopy) for ceramic characterization of green and fully dense body. • Worked closely with Senior Research Scientist on understanding processing and sintering characteristics on Neodymium doped Yttrium Alumina Garnet (YAG) polycrystalline ceramics. • Developed understanding of ceramic processing such as batching, aqueous processing, milling, iso-pressing, colloidal processing, binder removal and sintering.• Used basic analysis (e.g., thermal gravimetric analysis, surface area, optical and scanning microscopy) for ceramic characterization of green and fully dense body. • Studied the effects of green body strength and transparency on YAG ceramics using different aqueous and non-aqueous solvent with different organic binders.• Research experience culminated in Senior Thesis, “Processing of Transparent Nd-YAG Ceramics.”
