Development occurs through technical training and customized on-the-job assignments. At the conclusion of the program, graduates will be prepared to assume an assignment in manufacturing or quality in one of Pratt & Whitney's Aftermarket repair or engine center units.

Worked for the Product Engineering Center (PEC) Combustor Diffuser and Nozzle (CDN) Team supporting Marine & Industrial (M&I) aeroderivative engines specifically the LMS100, LM6000 and LM2500 programs. Work scope includes: designing and fabricating a test fixture in NX Unigraphics to examine/validate various band airflows on HPT Stage 1 Nozzles in order to improve the Quality checking process, work with Instrumentation Applied Services (IAS) to create and implement instrumentation plans using the eTPS system for NPI hardware, work with SCWC and eNMS to process nonconformances for various components under CDN, and compile a list of benchmarks for Stage 1 Nozzles across M&I and commercial aircraft engines to aid with validation and design.

Worked with the MRAS engineering department for the LEAP-1A, LEAP-1C and Passport20 Nacelle programs. For the first half, I worked with Certification Team in order to develop, compile and build a plan needed to pass Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR’s). Work scope included: developed instrumentation plans for various development and certification tests, building schedules separated by ESN and nacelle component to meet program specific milestones and need dates, created several instrumentation drawings in Catia V5 for necessary shop floor mods, and validated the Lightning Design and lead-out process in order to meet cert requirements. For the second half of my internship, I worked primarily with the A320neo structural analysis team. Work scope included: created and supported A320neo subcomponent test plans and rigs, FEM analysis on various components using MSC Nastran/Patran, and defined and created a Lug Analysis GUI used for report calculations.

I specifically worked on the Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) Team for Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) and the Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG) as an Engineering Aid. I gained an interim security clearance, prepared briefs, and helped process HMR’s, ECR’s, and aided in design deficiencies with the Ship Yard in a program management role.
