I have always enjoyed the challenges of fast paced and unpredictable work life, be it in the back of an ambulance in downtown Seattle, or deescalating psychiatric patients in an emergency room, as they keep my work life from becoming monotonous and predictable. I have been praised by my peers for my quick thinking in stressful situations, adaptability to rapidly changing situations, adherence to policies and procedures, and my overarching desire to ensure that the people working beside me go home safe at the end of the day.After two years as a Lead Security Officer for Swedish Medical Center, I came to the realization that I needed to pursue further education in order to provide for my family. I spent a lot of time thinking, and eventually realized to not focus on ways to simply earn more for my family, but pursue a career that I was passionate for. Having been a certified scuba diver since I was 11, and always wanting to be paid as a diver, I enrolled in Divers Institute of Technology to begin my career in commercial diving. While in school, I was quickly appointed as the safety officer for my team, having shown an affinity and desire to keep our job site and divers safe. I was also quickly recognized by staff as a skilled and level headed diver, who was able to calmly and methodically work through stressful and challenging tasks, all the while maintaining situational awareness and keeping an eye out for my team and their well-being, both underwater, and topside. Upon graduating in April 2021, I was hired on by CONSOR Engineers as a Dive Tech, and underwater bridge inspector. My duties involved in underwater bridge inspection, tending, setting up and breaking down dive stations, maintaining gear, doing AutoCAD and Microststion drawings of bridges, as well as assisting with report writing.
