About Michael S.
Since May of 2012, I've worked for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. I worked as production test manufacturing engineer for 3 years and 8 months. I served as a lead ME for 3 of those years. In December of 2015, I transitioned to a wire installation technical designer on the legacy 777 program before moving to the 777X program. initially I worked on electrical installations on the 777X-8 program until the 777X-9 and 777X-8 teams merged. I worked on designs in both the forward and aft cargo areas. In August of 2020, I transferred to the Technical Standards team to support electrical standards design implementations and cost saving efforts. Prior to that, my career revolved around supporting the Space Shuttle program as both a technician and an electrical systems engineer supporting the Solid Rocket Booster, External Tank electrical systems and ground power systems. While primarily focusing on testing, I also over saw the installation of both mechanical and electrical components and assemblies. During the time of the Ares/Constellation program I was selected as the 1st stage electrical lead engineer. The role involved function as a working member of separate IPTs with Lockheed Martin and ATK where system designs and developed installation processes were reviewed and approved.Never afraid to step outside of my comfort zone, I took on an additional statement of work to develop and build hardware/software and Automated Tests for ground support equipment. I received a NASA Space Act Award for the software development on the Solid Stacking Enhancement Tool (SSET). Post Shuttle work was primarily spent working on the build and test of wire harnesses for the Space Launch System Crew Module.Currently I am a Lead Planner for the Production Test group on the 787 program. I am and active member of our Employee Improvement team of which I am currently functioning as the team lead. I’ve worked with our team on a project that has helped us reduce our Service Level Target to close to 4 hour for all Emergent Processing Documents. Throughout my career, while as a technician and engineer, I spent time teaching and mentoring new and lesser experience co-worker to help them build their skills and adapt to the current statement of work. I found mentoring to be an enjoyable experience as I learned nearly as much from teaching as I did from the mentee.I’ve taken some additional training while over that past two year including CATIA and was certified as a Lean 6 Greenbelt in December of 2012.
