While at the Golden Empire Transit District the agency focused on four key goals: improving employee relations with operators and mechanics, the planning required to increase ridership to a record 8 million per year, establishing an innovative micro-transit service with transportation network companies that will be complementary to the agency’s in-house micro-transit service, the planning for an additional 39 hydrogen zero emission buses to add to the agency’s existing 14 hydrogen buses. and planning for 75 housing units in the redevelopment of the GET downtown transit center.Other initiatives included the initial planning for new operations & maintenance facilities, to include a higher capacity hydrogen station for use by the transit agency, member agencies, goods movement industry, and public.

While at Santa Cruz METRO the agency focused on growing ridership to 7 million a year by 2027, purchasing new battery electric and hydrogen buses that are zero emission, and developing more than 175 affordable housing units by the end of the decade. Through its One Ride At A Time campaign the transit agency has a goal of raising $1 million to protect and improve the environment in the Monterey Bay by 2028.

The award-winning Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority is an incredible transit agency. During my time at the agency, we have doubled the amount of Rapid service (15-minute all day service), moved and renovated a historic train depot, began an autonomous shuttle program, established a successful partnership with Uber and Lyft, started a pass program with middle and high schools in the area where students ride free thanks to Measure BB, and started a successful pass program at Las Positas College. As Executive Director of the Tri-Valley - San Joaquin Valley Regional Rail Authority I had the privileged of working with policy makers and community leaders on the visioning and planning of the Valley Link passenger rail project that in the future will operate from the planned ACE N Lathrop station to the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station, a 42-mile, seven station phase 1. Initially the work on this project was conducted through a working group. Eventually, through AB 758 (Eggman/Baker) in 2017, the working group it grew into a public agency with a 15-member board. I’ve was privileged to be the Executive Director for the agency, and over a five year period we completed a Feasibility Report for the project, the environmental work and 15% design. This great project has identified nearly $800 million in funds towards completion and will carry provide more than 33,000 rides a day when completed.

Missoula, Montana, United States

The Missoula Urban Transportation District is an incredible agency. With the support of the Mayor and City Council and transit board we redesigned the bus system to be very easy to use, creating the first BOLT! route with 15-minute all-day service. We also went to the residents with a significant property tax increase for public transit that resulted in additional BOLT! service in the city. Other fun accomplishments to the growing ridership included growing a unique culture on the bus system and engaging with the bicycle community with the installation of a bike station and bike amenities at transit stops.

The City of Twentynine Palms is home to the headquarters and visitor center for Joshua Tree National Park. It is also the home of the Twentynine Palms Marine Base. During my time at the Citythe economy was booming, and development was in full swing, with several housingsubdivisions being approved and built, multiple hotels being constructed and many publicworks projects being completed.

The Morongo Basin Transit Authority is an agency serving several communities northeast of the Palm Springs area. During my tenure, the agency built a new campus that included an administrative and operations building and a new maintenance facility in Joshua Tree. The agency also became 100% CNG with the fixed route fleet. Finally, the agency upgraded amenities at over 50 bus stop and built two new transit centers.

The company grew quickly from just a few clients to nearly 100 in the first couple of years. I sold the company in 1999. The company continued to grow and was bought out several years later by a large firm.
