Developed and characterized NGS sample preparation technologies. Designed, executed, and analyzed NGS experiments independently to support new product introductions. Lead NGS research projects at the bench. Presented projects and data to the research team, bioinformatics and product development stakeholders. Collaborated with team members to execute complex experiments and analyses. Performed product development for NGS applications in oncology research. Utilized novel amplicon sequencing techniques, RNASeq, hybridization capture, and performed panel, primer, and probe development/troubleshooting.

Performed cGMP manufacturing operations in a clean-room environment utilizing mechanical apparatus, automated equipment and manual processes. Accurately completed paperwork and electronic transactions for all documentation requirements including LIMS entry, SAP transactions, batch record steps and paper and electronic logbooks. Used Delta V and PAS-X control systems to execute processing steps. Completed chromatography processing of product using Unicorn control system. Performed microfiltration, ultrafiltration, filling and finishing of purified product. Assembled and disassembled operations equipment for cleaning, sterilization, and CIP/SIP of processing equipment. Sampled product streams, clean utilities and performance of environmental monitoring. Performed buffer and media preparation, integrity testing of process filters, supported validation and continuous improvement activities. Acted as support for maintenance and calibration of equipment.

Developed methods for growing bioluminescent mushroom species endemic to the Atlantic Forest at the Betary Reserve Field Station in conjunction with a lab at Sao Paolo University. Developed and implemented a mushroom inventory process for the reserve to begin to collect, identify and catalogue mushroom species and track and maintain mushroom biodiversity. Completed scientific article research to gain updated and background information on current mushroom species identified in the Atlantic Forest and growing methods across many different cultivated and non-cultivated species. Maintained mushroom mycelium cultures by replication involving media preparation, clean room, Laminar flow hood and autoclave use and sterilization practices. Supported Volunteer Manager with integrating and familiarizing new volunteers with the reserve and field station. Supported multiple projects including amphibian monitoring of Bd fungus effects, bioacoustics tracking, camera trap tracking, tree inventory, habitat monitoring of ponds, fish inventory of local stream, aquaponics system setup and gardening tasks.

Promotion included all former position duties. Additionally, managed the training schedules of all new hires and direct reports. Completed and communicated review materials for direct reports for productivity and quality. Developed and implemented the training program for ELN use to support the company initiative of adopting ELN in all areas.

Performed hands on facilitation of technical training modules for laboratory new hires. Accurately recorded training documentation and worked on organizational development. Worked to improve instructional design for safety, biological, and chemical training in conjunction with working testing laboratories. Summarized trainee’s requirement completion and performance to direct supervisors. Member of the technical training committee put in place to develop the training of new hires in the divisions of pharmaceuticals and professional scientific services.

Supported general needs in the emergency room and reception three hours each week

Performed tissue culture based potency assays on live virus vaccine products; processed intermediates and related experimental samples; prepared solutions and culture media; maintained multiple MRC-5 and RK-13 cell lines; maintained records and test results and entered data using LIMS; aided in implementing a standardization process for our lab focusing on Tier board development; formulated, packed, and documented temperature sensitive media and samples for outsourcing of tests to Lancaster site; monitored lab storage units that were temperature and CO2 sensitive with ELPRO Data Logger software; cross trained in MMR infectivity lab; authored SOP’s for equipment use and cleaning; trained new hires on assay reading; travelled internationally in the Netherlands supporting and consulting for client’s lab; performed second scientist review on paper and electronic lab documents and data; worked with operations and quality contacts to insure lab production and compliance.

Worked on-site at Godiva Chocolatier, Reading, PA. Analyzed ingredient, allergen, regulatory, processing, SOP, audit, packaging and quality information and then shifted the data into their work-in-progress database to aid in Godiva’s product lifecycle management project; validated the data entered for the product lifecycle management project and updated database specifications when changes were made to raw material specifications; aided coworkers in different departments in becoming familiar with the new database and data entry process; actively participated in sensory testing with the sensory team to aid in product development; took part in editing audit, guideline, specification, and safety standard documents.

Researched in a virology lab and used techniques and tools such as SDS gel eletrophoresis, PCR, RT-PCR, minipreps, sequence analysis, cell transformations and transfections, sterile microbial techniques, pouring plates and media preparation, streaking, colony counts, trouble shooting skills, mixers, balances, pH meters, laminar flow hoods, autoclaves, pipettes, and maintained cultures. The research aimed to formulate a strategy to analyze the role of the Reovirus µ1 membrane penetration protein in induction of apoptosis. The data compiled will be used in further research on this virus.
