After having migrated to Australia from Greece in 1963, Michael and his brother Manuel found work as a boiler maker, where they learnt and perfected their trade in construction before starting Samaras Structural Engineers in 1974 from a small shed in Wingflield South Australia.With Michael responsible for General Management of the business and Manuel responsible for overseeing fabrication, they grew the company from employing one staff member in 1975 to 350 permanent employees at times.Samaras Structural Engineers currently operates from a huge 75,000m2 workshop in South Australia and from here fabricates and erects steel structures nationally. Michael believes the growth of the company can be attributed to the value placed on all stakeholder relationships, commitment to quality outcomes and the importance placed on creating a positive working culture.Some notable projects Samaras have completed include the Adelaide Convention Centre, Clipsal Powerhouse (now Titanium Security Arena), the first Exhibition Centre on North Terrace, Phase 1, 2 & 3 of the Adelaide Convention Centre, National Wine Centre, Adelaide Entertainment Centre, Adelaide Oval, State Netball & Hockey Stadium Victoria and Sports & Aquatic Centre Melbourne.Having built a commercial property and land portfolio over time and having managed design and construct projects for select clients, Michael has recently established M Samaras Build to cater for various personal developments, as well as to build for other developers seeking a good commercial return on their projects.Michael has always been one to empower those around him, through inclusion and open and transparent communication. He treats people that work for and with him like family and is passionate about seeing others go through their own personal development journey.With a keen interest in entrepreneurship, Michael has recently established Space SA - a professional coworking incubator space in the Adelaide CBD.
