MJS Engineering & Land Surveying, PC has been in Goshen since 1996 serving clients throughout Orange, Sullivan, Dutchess, Rockland and Westchester Counties, as well as New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Michael J. Sandor, PE, the company president, holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering, a Masters of Environmental Engineering and has more than 35 years of engineering experience. His partner James C. Clearwater, PLS, is a licensed land surveyor with over 35 years experience. Mr. Sandor developed design/build documentation for the United States Postal Services processing and distribution centers throughout the county. They included Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Greensborough, North Carolina; Boise, Idaho; Cincinnati, Ohio; and South Portland, Maine. These documents consisted of detailed performance specifications and 30% design documentation. Prior this assignment, a feasibility study was conducted for approximately 20 sites in which feedback was received from the various project managers to streamline the design process for the new facilities. This assignment saved the USPS a considerable amount of money by providing them with a standard set of documentation while meeting the requirements of the Postal Service.

Mr. Sandor was a project manager at Raimondi Associates and his primary responsibility was residential and commercial subdivisions within Orange County, New York. In addition, work was done for feasibility studies and hydraulic analysis throughout the county.

During his tenure with Lockwood Greene, Mr. Sandor was involved with contract document preparation for pharmaceutical research and development projects for Boroughs Welcome and Glaxo in Research, Triangle Park, North Carolina, Johnson & Johnson in New Jersey, and newspaper offices for the New York Times, Asbury Park Press, The Daily News and the Washington Post. Additional work was done for Miles Laboratory, in Kansas City, Kansas.

During Mr. Sandor’s tenure with URS Corporation, which at the time was URS/MRS Engineers, Mr. Sandor was primarily engaged in developing the Flood Insurance Maps for multiple communities in northern New Jersey and in the Buffalo, New York area. This consisted of land surveying, topographic map registration, and hydraulic models using the Army Corps of Engineers program entitled, HEC-II. In addition, hydrologic information was gathered, formulated and utilized for the hydraulic models for those communities. In addition Monitoring of all of the stormwater dams in the Baltimore District of the Army Corps of Engineers was done, as well as a feasibility study for a major water transmission line from the Montague Reservoir.
