Liquor Enforcement And Proactive Strategies (LEAPS) officers aim to reduce alcohol fuelled violence both in and around licensed premises. Our primary focus is on public order allowing the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation to focus on the administrative aspects of the industry. Whilst generally maintaining a 'compliance through education' mindset, enforcement action is often taken when this is ineffective. My office works in consultation with liquor stakeholders including venue management, venue staff and security to ensure optimal safety, legislative compliance and high standards are maintained be it a licensed night club, regional show or local rodeo.LEAPS officers also provide recommendations to QPS management on new liquor applications and assist in problem solving liquor issues.
