Lead engineer on 280mm inside diameter gasifier design for SBIR Phase 2 DOD project. Assist procurement efforts and build of unit prior to testing.Provide final assembly of 0.5m inside diameter reactor including instrumentation, placement of cast refractory and leak check. Final unit sits 140 inches tall and weighs over 18,000 pounds.

Phoenix, Arizona Area

Support development of 300mm EPI reactor, especially exhaust control system design, conductance studies, vent matching and moisture analyzing surface mount gas system design and seismic report per IBC 2000 standards. Engineering, design and validation testing for automated multi-port injection. Created special tooling for installation and maintenance of high temperature quartz seals.

Currently leading the engineering and design effort for a commercial scale gasifier at Diversified Energy (www.Diversified-Energy.com). This 12 ton unit can be utilized by small to medium sized industries that require natural gas for process heating or chemical manufacture. The Omni-gas is a multi-feedstock system allowing companies to gasifiy carbon based waste, or coal, and create a nearly pure substitute gas with extremely low emissions.EmpowerTech is also engaged in supporting various semi-conductor equipment firms with specialty engineering, S/W development and maintenance personnel.

Coordinated the design-engineering department and field service group. Personally responsible for the design, development, documentation, and assembly of automated loaders for front-end semiconductor production equipment. Major accomplishments consisted of design and engineering of an automated 3-Axis loading system for high temperature horizontal diffusion furnaces, upgrade and retrofit of new loaders to existing furnaces, quartz and silicon carbide carrier designs, high temperature mechanisms, and incorporating computer aided design tools. Performed overseas site evaluations and feasibility analysis for capital equipment upgrades and provided hands-on installation and supervision for equipment retrofits at semiconductor fabs in Korea, Taiwan and Europe. Acted as principle design engineer of loader frames, HEPA filtration, linear drives and quartz/silicon carbide wafer carriers. Developed patented differential pressure control system. Designed operator interface for diffusion furnace automation. Designed high temperature mechanisms in quartz, inconel, ultem, Teflon, silicon carbide, stainless steel, and other ultra performance materials.

Responsible for technical support of world-wide semiconductor equipment sales force including technical quotations, cost analysis, customer acceptance and support for diffusion furnaces, plasma enhanced CVD furnaces, HF etchers and gas distribution systems. Sustaining engineer for various systems on Plasma Enhanced CVD equipment. Specialized in gas distribution, RF contacts, quartz wafer carriers, graphite wafer carriers, high purity ceramic wafer carriers, water cooling and vacuum conductance design.
