I am an analytics and optimization focused chemical engineer with an array of experience in the oil, gas, & chemicals industries in process design and simulation, process automation and control, and software & application development. I have a passion for utilizing both conventional engineering theory and emerging technologies to drive continuous process improvement. Some of my personal projects include:- Two high-fidelity dynamic simulators, consisting of: a large first principles process model using Dynamic Simulation software, integrated Distributed Control Systems, Safety Instrumented Systems, and Burner Management Systems within the dynamic model, and HMI graphics integration. These 2 simulators generated over $20 Million and $15 Million, respectively, in their first year of commissioning due to advanced operator training, process controls testing and improvement, Dynamic Matrix Control step-testing, process debottlenecking studies, process and control engineer training, and up to 3 months early unit start up.- PID controller design and commissioning (Honeywell TDC-3000 & Experion Process Knowledge System) as well as design and implementation of various other controller hierarchies including selector switches, Dynamic Matrix Controllers, feedforward control, and calculated tags.- HMI graphic design to improve readability and functionality of operator consoles.- New process instrumentation and analyzer initialization.- Advanced control applications coded in Honeywell control language. Two examples: 1. A mass balance-based time-to-alarm application for a new storage drum, to provide operators dynamic information on changing process conditions; 2. A pump synchronization algorithm that sets the minimum flow clamp across various applications to prevent violating pump minimum flow requirements.- A periodically-run application in C# to facilitate file processing for pilot plant data workup programs. This application utilizes coding best practices, for/if/while loops, regular expressions, string manipulation, exception handling, and logging to automate repetitive lab technician tasks. The customer estimated that successful delivery of this application saved them over an hour of manual work per day.I'm a team player who has experience working across various disciplines and environments, including corporate headquarters, large manufacturing plants, and pilot plant/laboratory settings. I have often been commended for my adaptability, fast learning, and technical communication skills in rapidly-changing business environments.
