Brotherhood NOK 1 is a self-governing organisation providing qualified Pilots to all types of vessels entering the Nord Ostsee Kanal.✦ Working as a qualified Pilot on the Nord Ostsee Kanal (Kiel Canal) with the pilot brotherhood NOK I in Brunsbüttel / Germany, piloting coasters, car carriers, cruise liners, container ships, tankers, super yachts, survey vessels, supply vessels and wind farm barges.✦ Report directly to the Elderman (Elected man from the brotherhood) and measured on delivery of quality services to individual vessels. ✦ When on-board directly report to the Captain and partner with the Master. ✦ Take charge of vessels from Brunsbuttel and advising Ship Captain’s on vessel navigation and safety whilst on route to Rendsburg (50Nm round trip).✦ Adhere to Canal regulations, translating nautical information and providing strong leadership.✦ Manage lock entry in 4 knots of current and up to 50mph wind speed.✦ Complete master pilot exchange checklist and countersigning with the Captain. Key Achievements:✔ Joined as Training pilot and in 2008 and after 8 months training became a certified pilot.✔ Often navigating in poor visibility with only radar for 4 - 5 hours.✔ Took control of AIDAcara, the first cruise ship in the fleet of German cruise company, AIDA Cruises 634 ft. 1186 passengers.✔ Made proposals for the change of regulations to improve conditions and safety for pilots.✔ Rectified numerous high-risk situations on the canal by leading by example and proactively / precautiously approached vessel operations.

Saga Shipping, also known as Saga Cruises is a British based cruise line, a division of the Saga Group. The cruises are aimed at people aged 50 and over. ✦ Reported to the Master and the Operations Team in Folkestone. ✦ Worked as the ship's second-in-command and kept a finger on the pulse of all on-board activity and conflicts.✦ Measured on delivery of housekeeping and ship board operations with limited intervention.✦ Completed safety standards reports and sent to Captain and UK management.✦ Chaired ship meetings with junior officers and delegated tasks.✦ Engagement with passengers and provided high level of hospitality.Key Achievements: ✔ Worked as Staff Captain on board the Spirit of Adventure – Travelling to Vietnam, Baltic, Norway, Greenland, Spitsbergen, Mediterranean, South America and Brazil. ✔ Provided route proofing in East Africa, British Guyana, Suriname, Brazil and Chile, checking capabilities of ports and tour agents prior to ships arriving. ✔ During refit period of MV “Spirit of Adventure” in overall command as Refit Captain in Genova for 4-month period with full responsibility preparing vessel for the shakedown cruise.✔ Joined MV “Saga Rose” ex MS Sagafjord as Staff Captain and travelled to Norway, Iceland, Spiztberg, Greenland and the UK.
