CurrentMichael Schwier, P.E., has substantial project management and structural engineering experience from a wide array of transportation projects to lead your project. His successful track record includes numerous bridge replacement and rehabilitation projects in Florida and throughout the Southeast. He leads the Florida highway, bridge and CEI team. His focus is on business development, proposal writing, developing project scope and fees, project manager and lead designer, and mentor. He is also responsible for staffing, assisting project pursuits and assigning staff to assist where needed throughout Florida.Leading Mead & Hunt’s Tallahassee office, Michael oversees a team of transportation engineers who are well-versed in FDOT requirements. Michael has substantial experience navigating the local public involvement process, coordinating with various agencies and gaining permits and public buy-in to move projects forward. His project management experience includes coordinating all aspects of transportation design projects, including but not limited to surveying and mapping, roadway, utility, structures, traffic, environmental and agency permitting as well as water resource and drainage. Michael understands what it takes on all levels to make a successful project: engineering, financial support, public interaction and responsive decision making. He is adept at listening and bringing together key team players that deliver a project well done.As manager of the Tallahassee team, he manages and provides quality assurance for transportation projects. He oversees the development of numerous bridge and roadway projects a year and is responsible for project development from preliminary contract negotiation to planning, design, and construction management.
