Leads the Planning & Engineering Guidelines (PEG) organization. The team provides Lumen Planning, Engineering and Sales organizations with the tools required to perform their jobs more efficiently and accurately. These tools include detailed equipment architectures and engineering configuration guides which support the rule sets to design and deploy technology in support of product and network strategies for inside plant (ISP), outside plant (OSP) and customer premises. Other important responsibilities are development and maintenance of online automated tools which enable productivity optimization for planners and engineers. Guidelines and standards are in place to drive efficiencies, reduce and optimize cycle time, minimize rework and assist in network reliability.

Greater Denver Area

The Architects in the PEG (Planning and Engineering Guidelines) team work closely with Strategy and Development to author and maintain detailed Guidelines in the form of network and technology architectures, standard configurations, and automated tools supporting planning, engineering and installation of equipment deployed in the CTL network. The documentation and tools address how the specific equipment is used by geography, the technical requirements/limitations and network interoperability. Standards are created to realize cost savings by offering planners and engineers the tools to create more consistent jobs, assist in network reliability and optimize cycle time.

Greater Denver Area

Responsible for the strategic roadmap related to network transport technologies and future opportunities, as well as for the implementation of corporate roadmap items. Partners with Product Development, Network teams, Segment Marketing, IT, Legal and sales teams , to understand competitive offers and technologies, as well as evolving Telco Network technologies and opportunities. Responsibilities include VDSL2 and ADSL2+ Pair Bonding, Ethernet over Copper services, FTTX opportunities promotions and customer migrations, as well as ongoing reliability improvements projects.

Outside Plant Architectures, Models and Configurations (AMC) Author and Review Team: In this position, responsible for generating, updating and maintaining technical documentation and guidelines; for supporting Network strategies and advocacies; subject matter expert on Fiber-to-the-Node (FTTN), Inter-office Facilities (IOF) and Outside Plant (OSP) Engineering; for providing cost effective, standard and nonstandard, solutions to reinforce the integrity of Qwest’s network; for partnering and aligning with work groups to ensure proper communications occur and that issues are resolved in a timely and efficient manner. Review OSP and AQCB jobs, submitted by planning engineers, for accuracy and compliance of Qwest standards and best cost practices.

Loop Electronic Coordinator (LEC)/Loop Electronic Design (LED) Engineer: In this role, was responsible for design engineering, planning and designing of Digital Loop Carrier (DLC) systems, including all Facility and Equipment Planning System (FEPS) designs; for providing technical assistance during the deployment and turn-up of loop electronics; for ordering applicable equipment for Central Office, Remote Terminal and Automated Quote Contract Billings (AQCBs); for ensuring accurate and timely delivery of critical materials to ensure the success of projects; for utilizing all appropriate sources to determine the most cost-effective solutions for the deployment of designed jobs; as well as, the single point of contact for all Colorado and Wyoming battery replacement issues.

Splicing Test and Turn-up Technician: Responsible for installation and maintenance on Digital and Analog systems; for performing various splicing functions on new cable and wire; for performing rearrangements on existing buried/aerial facilities and building work locations; performing turn-up and maintenance on a variety of DLC systems; for utilizing test devices to complete required tests and adjusting complex equipment (e.g., T-bird, 965, Throwmaster, transmission measuring sets, volt ohm millimeters).

Installation and Repair Technician: Responsible for installation and maintenance on aerial, buried and underground Digital and Analog systems; for performing various splicing functions on new cable and wire; for performing arrangements on existing facilities in buried, aerial and building work locations; for testing and adjusting complex equipment using test devices (e.g., signal generators, oscilloscopes, transmission measuring sets, volt ohm millimeters).

Luke Afb, Arizona

Responsible for performing maintenance on the AN/ /TPS-75 tactical 3-dimensional radar, the AN/TLQ-32 Anti-Radiation Missile Decoy, and all associated equipment valued in excess of $ 7.2 million; for assisting with troubleshooting and performing required repair actions; for performing preventative maintenance inspections and documenting associated actions in the core automated maintenance system. In additions, accomplished all duties in accordance with established performance standards and safety program elements; actively pursued qualification, proficiency, and upgrade training; submitted Air Force Technical Order (AFTO) forms to identify technical order discrepancies; participated in the generation, deployment, regeneration, and employment of the radar equipment in support of the control and reporting element; deployed worldwide in support of contingencies; performed additional duties as the work center Technical Order monitor and as the crew chief for two of the unit's tactical vehicles.
