Automation solutions at Micron include process equipment integration, material handling, and process control systems. I have a team of 9 direct reports which develop automation solutions globally and support those solutions at the Manassas site. I collaborate with peers world-wide to define the roadmap for automation at Micron. On a regular basis, I represent the IT department to customers’ senior management. I am the subject matter expert for Splunk development for Micron Technology world-wide.Key Accomplishments:- Successfully managed projects to convert the automation of two newly acquired factories in Asia which required over 14,000 man hours each and was executed by a team of 22 developers.- Lead team in re-architecture of the material handling software environment to reduce outages at the Manassas, VA facility by 85%.- Initiated a project to replace the software for the material handling system world-wide which is realizing $421K in cost avoidance every year. This project also enabled extensibility of the system for future factory integration.- Drove implementation of VMWare for the automation environment to reduce the physical server footprint by over 60%.- Headed an effort to implement Splunk IT Service Intelligence (ITSI) at the Manassas, VA site which has lead to a 52% reduction in impact from major incidents.- Developed, during my discretionary time, a Splunk app for a process control application. The app is realizing significant cost avoidance for Micron.

I was a supervisor and technical lead of a team of 4 AMHS Software Engineers. 4 months after my promotion the department was reorganized and the Host Automation Team was added to my responsibilities.

As an AMHS Software Engineer, I was responsible for the development and support of factory material handling software. The software handles the decision-making and execution of product moves throughout the factory. In this position, I handled complex considerations such as product balance across the factory, managing constraints in the delivery system, and minimizing lost productive time for process equipment. I had an active role in the full Software Development Life Cycle and participated in a 24x7 on-call rotation.Key Accomplishments:- On boarded to the team quickly, earning the position of team lead in a year.

Cree is a leading manufacturer of LEDs and power switching diodes. Cree’s capabilities extend from inventing America’s best-selling light bulb to commercializing the brightest lighting-class LEDs, to launching the wide band gap technology power and RF industries.As a Senior Automation Engineer, I was the first person to successfully introduce process equipment integration to Cree’s front-end and back-end factories. I was responsible for the full software development life cycle of the factory automation solution. I had two contractors who reported to me directly and assisted in the development, test, and deployment phases. Key Accomplishments:- Successfully automated 50% of Cree’s front-end process equipment- Developed Automation procedures and policies that are still in place today- Provided equipment utilization data collected by automation software which enabled the company to better plan process equipment purchases- Provided recipe and step validation through automation software which resulted in less scrap and reworked product- Provided wafer mapping capabilities on key equipment to detect missing product sooner. This enabled better forecasting of output from the factory.-Provided recipe content validation to detect uncontrolled process modifications which were root cause to scrapped product.

As an Automation Software Engineer, I was responsible for the development and support of the equipment integration software. This software handles the set up and initiation of the process of product, process data collection, and event handling for the equipment. Each piece of equipment has special considerations that needed to be accounted for.
