I have experience in developing and maintaining communications channel with outside biotechnology companies in new product evaluations. In particular, I've fostered and maintained channels with the University of Utah Department of Pathology and other research groups at the University of Utah.I have extensive experience in development of PCR assays including real-time (RT), quantitative (Q), and PCR product melting analysis.I have developed many iterations of “in-house” PCR mastermixes that have been used for high-resolution melting analysis, gene-scanning, unlabeled probe, qPCR, RT-PCR and single nucleotide extension methods. When required by another department I have adjusted components of the mastermix based on new methodology.I have experience in evaluation of new biotech instrumentation. I participated in evaluation of the BioFire LightScanner-32 and an earlier high resolution amplicon melting instrument, the BioFire HR-1. I also evaluated and developed an assay taking whole blood specimens through extraction, to quantification and dilution and preparation of PCR plates on the Beckman-Coulter modified BioMek robot.I have experience in developing and maintaining sample databases for research projects. I also have experience in developing project specific databases which include genetic mutations (HGMD search) and SNP's (dbSNP search).

An intense fast moving class covering inorganic, organic and biological chemistries, basic molecular biology, biology of inheritance, natural selection, biotechnology present and future, and basic medical laboratory technologies.Adjunct Biology, Genetics and Cell Biology Lab instructor. Molecular Biological Methods: DNA extraction and PCR amplification, protein extraction and western blot analysis, tissue printing, spectrophotometric analysis, basic immunological principles, enzyme kinetics and bacterial transformation. Lab Chemistry Methods: thin layer chromatography, acid/base/buffer systems, and common organic chemistry principles. Cellular Genetics and Heredity: basic mendelian genetics, inheritance patterns and probability calculations, pedigree analysis, and modes of inheritance.

Managerial responsibilities (10 Employees, Training, Insurance, and Scheduling), Maintaining ISO, MSDS, GMP, QA and QC and FDA records filing, Experiment Design and implementation, including literature and patent searches, Synthesis of biopharmaceuticals, Quality Control and Quality Assurance documentation for products produced in the contract packaging unit, responsible for initiating GMP procedures and SOP’s for manufacturing facilities, established quality parameters for reagents and synthesized biopharmaceuticals using HPLC, Mass Spectrometry, and NMR.
